Porcelain Veneers – Everything You Need to Know

Cosmetic Dentist in Arcadia

Made from thin-porcelain shells, veneers are attached to the surface of your teeth to restore their appearance and correct cosmetic imperfections. In the experienced hands of a skilled dentist like Dr. Farahmand, the distinguished dentist in Arcadia, you can receive porcelain veneers to cover existing teeth and to close gaps, change color, and/or lengthen improperly aligned teeth. With porcelain veneers, you’ll receive a gorgeous, natural looking smile.

The Benefits of Porcelain Veneers

Dental veneers are long-lasting, low-maintenance, and customizable to fit your specific needs. Here are the major benefits of porcelain veneers:

  • Fix cosmetic issues by covering chips, cracks, gaps, discoloration, and misalignment
  • Enhance the symmetry and proportion of the teeth
  • Prevent tooth discoloration
  • Lengthen or shorten teeth
  • Strengthen weakened or damaged teeth
  • Last as long as 10-20 years with proper care

The Procedure

When you arrive for your initial consultation, our experienced team will evaluate and discuss your concerns. Two or more appointments are needed to complete the porcelain veneer restoration process. At your first appointment, Dr. Farahmand will shape and slightly roughen the surface of the teeth receiving the veneers. Then, he will take dental impressions to create an exact, working model of your mouth. The new porcelain veneers are artistically crafted based on these models to perfectly fit your teeth.

After the initial appointment, you will leave the office wearing highly specialized temporary acrylic veneers, which look better than one’s original teeth. The temporaries allow the doctor and patient to “plan” the appearance of the permanent veneers, since they have much the same look. At the next appointment, Dr. Farahmand will clean and polish the prepared teeth in preparation for the permanent porcelain veneers. From which the permanent veneers are placed over the affected areas with the application of a special adhesive to permanently bond them to the patient’s teeth. A gentle, high-intensity light is used to harden the adhesive, and then you will be on your way with a beautifully restored smile!
